Editor's Log: White Water Rafting
My first trip down the white waters was almost 12 years ago. My dad took a group of my friends and I. Us being the brash young teens we were, we were confident none of us would end up overboard. So we had a bet. Who could stay in the boat the longest. Two friends lasted longer than the rest and just when it appeared a stalemate was reached, one pushed the other in during a clam stretch and claimed victory.
It was a funny episode and we all laugh about it still. But in the times I’ve been white water rafting since, I’ve learned the water is not a beast to be messed with. Since then I’ve heard stories from friends and families of fist fights over the stresses of a day on the rapids, busted lips and even a drowning.
